Kuala Lumpur, 23 October 2015 –
The Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC) has been recognised as among the best in Asia Pacific with two award wins at the Asian Golf Awards 2015 at the Orchid Country Club in Singapore recently.

KLGCC was announced as the winner of the Best Course in Malaysia for its West Course. The award was presented by Angela Raymond, President of Asia Pacific Golf Group to Steven Thielke, General Manager of KLGCC. KLGCC won the same title in 2012 and 2013.

The second award of the night was the Best Golf Course Superintendent in Asia Pacific award, presented to Mohd Nizam Othman, KLGCC’s Course Superintendent.

With over 20 years of managing golf courses under his belt, Nizam is one of the very few Superintendents in Asia who has worked with both the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour and European Tour in preparing KLGCC for major international tournaments namely the CIMB Classic, Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia and Maybank Malaysian Open in one calendar year.

“We are humbled and extremely delighted with such recognitions from the Asia Pacific Golf Awards and would like to thank everyone who voted for us. KLGCC will continue to strive in providing world class services to our members and patrons of the club.

“As the only golf club that has hosted three international tournaments within a year for three consecutive years which includes the Maybank Malaysian Open, CIMB Classic, and Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia, these awards and recognitions are a testament to the level of excellence and utmost commitment that our team has to offer and we felt very much honoured that our efforts are recognized,” said Steven Thielke, General Manager of KLGCC.

Established since 1996, the Asian Golf Awards is one of the largest category–based awards programmes in the world to measure the standard of excellence of golf clubs and related services. The winners were elected by over 72,000 voters who participated in an on-line poll conducted earlier in the year and the final results are based on the popular vote.

These latest awards add to the growing list of accolades received by KLGCC over the years from both the local and international golfing industry.

Strategically located amidst Kuala Lumpur’s prime residential suburbs and well served by major roads, KLGCC is surrounded by lush nature and home to unique species of wildlife and flora and fauna. The beautifully designed clubhouse provides a conducive atmosphere for business, entertainment and leisure engagements for the discerning few.
